Amazon Local Good | Relay offers loads that support community nonprofits

Relay is Amazon’s verified, direct connection to middle mile freight. There’s a new label on Relay’s free load board called “Local Good.” You’ll see it on loads that deliver donated goods to nonprofit organizations across the country. Food for families. School supplies for kids. Essentials for communities that need them most.

These loads have always been part of Relay. Now they’re easier to spot. With Amazon planning to scale the Local Good initiative to transport over 150 million essential items and meals in the next five years, it’s a great time to be(come) a Relay carrier.

What’s Amazon Local Good?

Amazon Local Good is Amazon’s pro bono logistics support program that donates transportation of essential items to local charities and nonprofits. It uses Amazon’s scale and logistics expertise to make sure all communities have access to essential items.

For example:

  • Food security: Amazon Local Good powers major recovery efforts, rescuing hundreds of thousands of meals and redirecting surplus food straight to family dinner tables. It also coordinates hauls to and from food banks.
  • Education support: It’s coordinated the movement of hundreds of pallets to transport millions of dollars worth of donated classroom materials directly to under-resourced schools.

The transportation comes at no cost to the organizations, allowing them to stay focused on the people they serve. The freight is booked and paid through Relay like any other carrier opportunity.

“I had no idea I can pick up routes that impact the community and get paid to do it! I do that pro bono all the time. It’s fantastic and should be more widely known.”

How carriers can book charitable loads on Amazon Relay

Relay carriers are those approved to haul Amazon’s middle mile. As an approved carrier, you can search Amazon-verified loads on Relay’s load board for free. Some loads now carry a “Local Good” badge, which tells you the load supports a community nonprofit.

Everything else that’s convenient about booking a Relay load stays the same:

  • You’ll still see the estimated payout upfront, including base rate, fuel surcharge, and tolls.
  • You can set up saved searches and use recommended loads based on your past routes.
  • The Post A Truck feature can match your company with loads that fit your schedule and location automatically.

All loads on Relay are posted, priced, and verified by Amazon. Payment is typically within 7 days.

Since 2021, Amazon Local Good has helped deliver over 350 million essential items across 19 countries, supporting more than 700 nonprofits.
