Do you have trailers, or just tractors?
If you have tractors but no trailers, power-only loads are built for you. You bring the tractor. Amazon provides the trailer. That’s it. No trailer investment, no maintenance on equipment you don’t own. Just filter your load search by this equipment type.
Can you commit to a set schedule for weeks or months?
If yes, and you have the trucks and driver availability to support it, contracts give you consistent volume with pre-planned dates and times. You know what’s coming. You plan around it.
If no—e.g. you book one day ahead because that’s where the best opportunities are—that’s a legitimate way to run. Relay’s load board is built for exactly that. Day-of and day-ahead booking. Full control over what you accept. No long-term commitment. You can also run a hybrid model: some contracted routes for stability, some day-of loads for flexibility.
Do you want to compete for short-term commitment?
Relay’s auctions let you bid on contracts that fit your lanes and capacity. You choose what to bid on. If you win, you haul it. If you don’t, nothing changes.

Tried Relay before?
What’s available has changed, and it keeps changing. The load board gets new filters. We add new contract types. Newer load options like hostler and shuttle and third-party shipper loads are built for carriers looking to diversify their freight. The Relay you tried a year ago isn’t the Relay that’s live today.
