Amazon’s peak season for carriers

There’s peak season. And then there’s Amazon peak season. Every year in the freight industry, load volume spikes during the “haulidays” between October and January. If you want to make sure all your equipment is out and earning during this busy period, book freight with Amazon Relay. We provide fast, easy booking tools to help you and your drivers efficiently manage time during peak season (and year-round).

When are the Amazon sales during peak season?

We’re adding thousands of loads every day in the weeks of holiday shopping ahead. While this is a roundup of Amazon’s peak season dates, the freight lasts long after the holidays are over.

  • Prime Big Deal Days: Our two-day holiday kickoff event continues to grow each October. Prime Big Deal Days 2024 was no exception, with more items sold than any of Amazon’s past October events.
  • Black Friday & Cyber Monday: Amazon hosts major weeks of sales around the Friday and Monday after Thanksgiving. Last year, customers purchased over one billion items worldwide during these events – our biggest Black Friday & Cyber Monday ever. Amazon’s Black Friday is already underway in 2024, with deals from November 21-29. Amazon’s Cyber Monday will be from November 30-December 2.
  • Super Saturday: The last Saturday before Christmas typically marks a huge day of deals for last-minute shoppers trying to get gifts sent on time. In 2024, Super Saturday will fall on December 21.
  • Christmas: In the final stretch of 2023, customers purchased more items on Amazon than during any previous holiday season. As far as what to expect from Christmas in 2024, wheels are turning and engines are heating up. More reasons to get excited will be released in the following weeks. Stay tuned.

Why carriers choose Amazon Relay for peak season

Whether operating a single truck or managing a large fleet, Relay carriers can choose the type and amount of work that fits their goals for peak season.

  • Weeks to months of steady roundtrips: Secure short-term contracts in one booking, or bid on a contract auction for a chance to name your own price. Those consistent hauls can set your company up for the off-season, too.
  • Real-time spot work: To fill gaps in schedules, Relay’s load board auto-refreshes every 30 seconds with a list of available spot freight. You can also get automatically matched to an Amazon load by building a criteria order on Post A Truck — just set your preferences for distance, duration, payment, and more.
  • Personalized load recommendations: Based on your past searches and booking history, it’s faster and easier than ever to grab a load and go.
  • Cancellation replacements: To help avoid the last-minute scramble, Relay suggests replacements for cancelled loads. We factor in the time and route constraints of the original load, so it’s as close to your scheduling needs as possible.
  • Reload recommendations: Get more out of one-ways using recommendations for return trips – or additional loads to continue a driver’s journey onward from their original destination.
  • Load time flexibility: If you’re unable to book at a certain load time, some spot loads offer a scheduling window to help account for traffic, stem miles, and Hours of Service. While booking, you have the ability to choose a better pick-up option from a list of available times.
