For many schools in under-resourced communities, getting classroom supplies isn’t just a funding challenge. It’s a logistics one.
Since October 2022, Amazon Local Good has coordinated with Amazon Relay to transport 754 pallets of donated school supplies to The Education Partnership’s warehouse in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Those pallets represent about 18% of all donated products the non-profit received between 2023-2026, including more than $4.3 million worth of classroom materials.
That freight moved because carriers booked it through Relay.
What Amazon Local Good does
Amazon Local Good is an Amazon initiative dedicated to getting donated items where they’re needed most. The program coordinates no-cost transportation and delivery on behalf of charitable organizations, tapping into Amazon’s transportation network and operational know-how to move goods between locations efficiently and reliably. It’s a reflection of something carriers already know firsthand: that the ability to move freight can create real, meaningful change in communities across the country.
How it comes together
Amazon Local Good identifies non-profit organizations that need help moving donated goods. Relay connects those transportation needs with approved carriers who can haul the loads. Through spot loads and contracts, these carriers find and book opportunities through Relay’s self-service load portal.
With the help of Relay’s carriers and Amazon Local Good’s coordination, The Education Partnership is able to serve more than 12,000 educators and over 80,000 students in under-resourced schools across Southwestern Pennsylvania each year.
“We’re incredibly grateful for Amazon Local Good’s partnership in helping ensure essential supplies reach the classrooms where they are needed most.”
Why transportation matters
At Amazon Relay, hauling freight is about more than moving goods from point A to point B. It’s about what’s inside those trailers and who’s waiting on the other end.
For non-profits like The Education Partnership, transportation is one of the biggest costs tied to product donations. When that cost is covered, resources that would have gone toward moving supplies can go directly into programs that support educators and students instead.
That’s a lot of dry-erase boards. A lot of pencils. A lot of kids who walk into a classroom ready to learn.
Freight that makes a difference
When you haul with Amazon Relay, you’re part of a network that moves freight that matters. From everyday essentials to donations that change lives, the loads you book help fuel communities across the country.
