Mileage bonuses are currently an opt-in program for Relay carriers.
Your trucking company is out there every day helping to keep our roads safe, and you deserve to be rewarded for that. Here’s how Amazon Relay recognizes and rewards Relay carriers who put safety first.
What are Amazon Relay’s per mile safety bonuses?
This year, Amazon Relay kicked off a program to offer per-mile bonuses to carriers who support our priority – safe hauling.
Carriers in our beta program earned up to 4 cents per mile for using approved dash cams and driving without accidents. On average, Relay carriers in the beta program earned an extra $400 per month per tractor. That’s on top of their regular Relay payments. And that’s just the average – beta carriers who drove more safe miles with more trucks earned even more.
How to qualify for Relay’s per mile safety bonuses
To opt into this program and earn safety rewards, your company must be an approved Relay carrier using trucks that have a dash cam. To help you purchase dash cams, companies you know and trust have provided exclusive deals to Relay carriers.
You can get:
- Free hardware on Motive dash cams with a one-year contract.
- Free hardware from Verizon Connect, plus up to 20% off Verizon Connect subscription fees.
- No upfront hardware cost on Netradyne’s in-cab safety cameras & driver coaching. Plus, a 30-day free trial.
How to start earning Relay’s per mile safety bonuses
Once you’ve opted into the incentive program as a Relay carrier, and you’ve got your dash cam up and running, it’s easy to start earning.
- You’ll just need to make sure your dash cam is on and agree to share only collision detection data with Amazon.
- Each week, Amazon will receive carrier-level collision detection data directly from the safety tech provider – your company won’t need to send anything manually to Amazon.
- The dash cam provider will only tell us if any of your dash cams detects a collision while hauling Amazon Relay loads.
The data won’t be used to affect your Relay performance or safety score. Nothing will be linked to a particular driver, and we won’t collect any camera footage.
On average, Relay carriers in the beta program earned an extra $400 per month per tractor.
Mileage bonus structure
So, once you’ve opted in to the program, agreed to the limited data sharing and have your cameras ready to roll, you’ll start earning rewards – up to 4 cents extra per mile as long as you keep a collision-free record. And your rewards grow as you haul more miles throughout the year:
- On your first 50k miles, you’ll earn 2 cents per mile.
- From 50k to 80k, it’s 3 cents per mile.
- And over 80K? 4 cents per mile.
For example, if you haul 60,000 miles of Amazon loads with tractors that have dash cams, you’ll earn $1,000 for the first 50k miles, and $300 for the additional 10k.
If your company experiences a severe collision event, your mileage count will reset. For example, if a collision occurs at mile 62,000 ($0.03 per mile), your per mile bonus will move back to $0.02.
What does this mean for your company?
There are no additional performance score, tenure, or minimum mileage requirements for Relay carriers to opt in to this program and earn these cash bonuses.
- If you’re a Relay carrier already using a dash cam from Motive or Verizon Connect and sign up to share any collision notifications with us, you can start earning extra revenue right away.
- If you’re thinking about investing in dash cams, we’ve got great deals for you, which you’ll find on the Relay Rewards page as an approved Relay carrier.
