Load tracking with Amazon Relay

See what’s happening with your company’s trips, right when it happens. Amazon Relay’s load tracking software lets carriers see the status of all in-transit Relay trips and watch them progress in real time. This helps you plan your trips more efficiently and take action early if there’s a disruption. It’s all about giving your company the keys to keeping business trucking along.

“I love it. You can use your own ELD, but this is tethered to Amazon loads, which paints you a better picture on where something could have went wrong. I use it to detect why my driver did a detour, or in the event there is a late load, or if the driver arrived late and want to understand why.”

What is load tracking?

Load tracking software uses GPS technology so that owner-operators, fleet managers, and dispatchers can easily find information about each trip, minute by minute. At Amazon, load tracking is available on in-transit trips as long as 1) location services are turned on in the Relay app, and 2) the app is open while a driver is doing Relay work. Both are required to haul Amazon loads.

How does load tracking help with fleet management?

Load tracking allows you to access load history in a clear, sequential order to see everything about a trip from start to finish. Here’s how Relay helps you spot and fix issues quickly instead of having to piece together data from multiple pages and tools.

  • Real-time trip visibility: Visualize your fleet activities. Relay’s trip map automatically refreshes when a new update comes in (about every 30 seconds per trip), making it appear as if the truck is moving in real-time. You also get color-coded signals throughout the trip so you can take quick action on disruptions (e.g. red icons for late arrival). Your dispatchers also get time back by making fewer location check calls, which leads to less distracted driving.
  • Relay navigation routes: View the route recommended to your driver, and any changes or delays. Relay recommends truck-friendly routes that avoid residential areas and low bridges, when possible.

  • Route-specific weather forecasts: Make informed safety decisions before a trip begins and while it’s happening. You can see the same weather information as drivers on Relay navigation routes.
  • Past trip data on a timeline: Hit “play” on past trip movements for details about key events during the trip, such as arrival/departure, driving/stoppage, document uploads (e.g., bills of lading), and trip completion. You can use this info to coach drivers in on-time performance, as well as reducing accidents and maintenance costs.
  • Driver details: View the driver’s contact information and overall status alongside the trip and asset data.
“We appreciate the real-time updates and the user-friendliness. We also enjoy the estimated arrival time indications.”
