This year, Amazon Relay kicked off a program to offer per-mile bonuses and free dash cams to eligible carriers who support our priority – safe hauling. Here’s how it works.
What are Amazon Relay’s per mile safety bonuses?
It’s our way of rewarding safe hauling for approved carriers that have hauled at least one Relay load in the previous 12 months.
- If your trucking company has a dash cam from Motive, Netradyne, or Verizon Connect, enroll in Relay safety rewards to earn between $0.01 and $0.04 extra per collision-free mile.
- Don’t have a dash cam? Amazon covers Motive or Netradyne hardware, installation, and one year of subscription fees when your company enrolls in safety rewards. Rates are pre-negotiated for dash cams, and there’s no cost to you while you remain eligible for safety rewards. Every verified truck in your account qualifies for a free dash cam. We also have discounts for Relay carriers on Verizon Connect.
We’re rolling this out on a carrier by carrier basis. If you’re hauling with Relay today, keep an eye out for the offer on your Rewards page.
How to get a free dash cam
If you don’t have a dash cam in your fleet yet, Amazon covers Motive or Netradyne hardware, installation, and one year of subscription fees when your company enrolls in safety rewards. Rates are pre-negotiated for dash cams, and there’s no cost to you while you remain eligible for safety rewards.. Every verified truck in your account qualifies for a free dash cam. You can choose to install cameras on your own, or have professional installation done at an Amazon yard. To get the offer, you’ll need to enroll in the safety rewards program*.

How to start earning Relay’s per mile safety bonuses
Once you’ve signed up for the program, reviewed the key terms and conditions*, and you’ve got your dash cam up and running, it’s easy to start earning.
- Start enrollment from your Relay Rewards page in your account.
- Sign up for the program and review the key terms and conditions*. This includes Amazon receiving a signal that your dash cam is on and collision alerts on Relay loads. All data Amazon receives will be combined across all of your company’s drivers.
- Ensure your dash cams support drivers with in-cab alerts. Alerts help your drivers while on the road and are a key part of keeping our roads safe. Amazon won’t receive any of the alerts, just a signal that they were turned on.
Each week, Amazon will receive collision detection data directly from the safety tech provider – your company won’t need to send anything manually to Amazon.
The dash cam provider will only tell us if any of your dash cams detects a collision while hauling Amazon Relay loads. The data won’t be used to affect your Relay performance score. All data Amazon receives will be combined across all of your company’s drivers..

Mileage bonus structure
cameras ready to roll, you’ll start earning rewards – 1 to 4 cents extra per mile as long as you keep a collision-free record. And your rewards grow as you haul more miles throughout the year:
- Your first 50,000 miles will receive $0.01 extra per collision-free mile
- Miles 50,001-200,000 will receive $0.02 extra per collision-free mile
- Miles 200,001-300,000 will receive $0.03 extra per collision-free mile
- Miles 300,001-400,000 will receive $0.04 extra per collision-free mile
For example, if your company hauls 100,000 miles on each of your two tractors (200,000 miles total), you’ll earn $3,500 ($0.01 for the first 50,000 miles = $500, $0.02 per mile for the next 150,000 miles = $3,000).
If your company experiences a severe collision event, your mileage count will reset. For example, if a collision occurs at mile 62,000 ($0.02 per mile), your per mile bonus will move back to $0.01.

*Safety rewards require active Relay carrier status, an eligible dash cam sharing limited collision data with Amazon, in-cab alerts enabled, and at least 12,000 miles hauled with Relay per year. Disqualifying collision events will reset your mileage count and earning tier. If your company unenrolls from safety rewards or Relay, or stops meeting these requirements, and received a dash cam through the program, you may owe back some of the dash cam setup cost.
