What’s Amazon Relay’s safety rewards program?
It’s our way of supporting carriers who want to invest in safety technology and providing rewards for safe hauling. Drive collision-free with an eligible dash cam for the chance to earn per-mile bonuses:
- If your company has a dash cam from Motive, Netradyne, Samsara, or Verizon Connect, enroll to earn between $0.02 and $0.05 per collision-free mile.
- Don’t have a dash cam? Amazon covers Motive or Netradyne hardware, installation, and one year of subscription fees when your company enrolls in safety rewards*. Rates are pre-negotiated for dash cams, and there’s no cost to you while you remain eligible for safety rewards. Every verified truck in your account qualifies for a free dash cam. We also have offers for Relay carriers interested in Verizon Connect (free dash cam, installation, and one year of service) and Samsara (25%+ off for qualifying new customers).
Why is Amazon offering safety rewards?
To support our top priority: safety. The program helps and rewards carriers who are investing in keeping their fleet and roads safe.
Who’s eligible for Relay safety rewards?
To earn rewards, your company must haul Amazon Relay loads with an eligible, uncovered dash cam turned on, maintain a collision-free record, and agree to Amazon receiving limited collision data. You must have hauled at least one Relay load in the last year.
What information will Amazon receive as part of Relay safety rewards? How is it sent to Amazon?
Amazon receives limited information:
- Number of devices used in the week
- Number of devices used in the week where the dash cam successfully collected data (e.g. dash cam wasn’t physically covered)
- If in-cab alerts were turned on
- Number of collision alerts (if any) and the collision severity level
- Number of open disputes (if any) against collision alerts
Your trucks must be registered with your dash cam provider. They’ll provide this information to Amazon directly every week.
How will Amazon use the limited information collected for Relay safety rewards?
We’ll use it to calculate your rewards. If we get collision data, we’ll use it to look into what happened in a collision, support questions if they come up, and evaluate safety across Relay. We won’t use the data to coach or manage individual drivers. We won’t use the data to make other choices about your account outside of Relay’s existing program requirements.
What safety tech qualifies for Relay’s safety rewards? Does my company need to buy new tech?
You’ll need an eligible dash cam. At this time, that includes Motive, Netradyne, Samsara, and Verizon Connect. Check back to see when other providers are eligible.
If your company doesn’t have an eligible dash cam, consider adding them to your fleet’s technology. Amazon covers Motive or Netradyne hardware, installation, and one year of subscription fees when your company enrolls in safety rewards*. We also have offers for Relay carriers interested in Verizon Connect (free dash cam, installation, and one year of service) and Samsara (25%+ off for qualifying new customers).
What are the Relay safety rewards tiers and payout amounts?
- Your first 50,000 miles will receive $0.02 extra per collision-free mile
- Miles 50,001-200,000 will receive $0.03 extra per collision-free mile
- Miles 200,001-300,000 will receive $0.04 extra per collision-free mile
- Miles 300,001-400,000 will receive $0.05 extra per collision-free mile
For example, if your company hauls 100,000 miles on each of your two tractors (200,000 miles total), you’ll earn $5,500 ($0.02 for the first 50,000 miles = $1,000, $0.03 per mile for the next 150,000 miles = $4,500).
What are the Relay safety rewards eligibility requirements?
- Active, eligible dash cam: Your company’s trucks need to be registered with an eligible dash cam provider (Motive, Netradyne, Samsara, or Verizon Connect) and sharing data with Amazon. If your company doesn’t have a dash cam yet, Amazon covers Motive or Netradyne hardware, installation, and one year of subscription fees when your company enrolls in safety rewards*. Rates are pre-negotiated for dash cams, and there’s no cost to you while you remain eligible for safety rewards. We also have offers for Relay carriers interested in Verizon Connect (free dash cam, installation, and one year of service) and Samsara (25%+ off for qualifying new customers).
- Active Relay carrier status: Only active Relay carriers with registered trucks can earn rewards.
- No disqualifying collision events: If your company experiences a disqualifying collision event, your mileage count and earning tier will reset.
- 12,000 miles per year: You can complete these miles on any schedule. We’ll reach out about eligibility if your company hauls fewer than 1,000 miles for two months in a row.
If my company joins the Relay safety rewards program, are there changes to how I book or haul loads?
No. The more miles you drive, the higher the potential for your rewards!
*Relay safety rewards require active Relay carrier status and an eligible dash cam sharing limited collision data with Amazon. Disqualifying collision events will reset your company’s mileage count and earning tier. If you receive Amazon’s support on a dash cam through the program, you must haul at least 12,000 miles with Relay per year. You may owe back some of the setup cost if you unenroll from safety rewards or Relay, or stop meeting program requirements.
